Rance Rizzutto has been professionally improvising since 1999 on stages all around the world!

Starting in Portland, OR with ComedySportz, as well as joining Portland’s longest running sketch comedy troupe, The Third Floor, he performed with both until making the decision to find his calling as a mainstage performer at two theatres in Chicago after the big move.

Second City also hired Rance to perform improv and sketch with their theatrical division aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL). He’s performed sketch and improv all over the seas. Caribbean, Mediterranean, Atlantic Ocean, and in late 2009, the Pacific Ocean…Hawaii. All in all, he’s spent 17 months traveling and performing aboard cruise ships. That’s a LOT of buffet food.

Traveling with Second City also made possible one of my favorite improv opportunities: sitting in with the Istanbul, Turkey improv group Istanbulimpro and singing about swearing with cultural awareness (SFW).

In Chicago, he most connected with iO Theatre where he became an adored performer and host featured on such beloved teams Chaos Theory, The Deltones - and later, lauded two-person touring duo, “HERE, the (improvised) Musical” which tours globally as invited headliners at festivals, schools, and performing arts centers. Since being sent by iO to teach 3-day intensives in Europe (2014) Tara DeFrancisco and Rance have performed HERE in 24 countries and 90+ cities!

After years at iO Chicago performing with The Deltones and Chaos Theory on Saturday nights, (and of course, HERE with Tara DeFrancisco), Tara and Rance moved to Columbus, OH to start The Nest Theatre!

Incredible host, teammate, and curriculum designer, his improv and prior work experience have enabled him to help businesses grow utilizing improvisation principles for their communication and team unity needs. He is the Co-Founder, Training Center Director, instructor & mainstage performer at revered The Nest Theatre in CBus, OH.

In addition to his hosting hundreds of live industrials, and you may have seen Rance in television commercials for Hewlitt Packard or Sears or heard his voice in animated commercials for Sears as well (as a bear, in case you're wondering). You may have even heard him on multiple podcasts, including “Debatables with Tara DeFrancisco and Rance Rizzutto”. His life has completely transformed due to enrichment from improvisation, and finds great passion in the potential energy and fun in the comedic arts he is fortunate to have as a career.
